annoying beep that I can't stop

R

Richard

Recently my pc has started making an annoying blob/beep sound every 30
seconds or
so when using Internet Explorer. Sometimes it does it 2 or 3 times in quick
succession. It's as if it's reacting to an update of the page or something.
Except nothing obvious happens to show me what's causing it.
So, how can I stop it? I've checked my internet options and my sound scheme
in control panel but no joy there. The only thing I've recently installed is
the Google toolbar, but I've tried disabling this and it still beeps!

Are you running any sort of popup stopper? those can be set to make a sound
when they block something.

no. it does seem that it occurs when I have a website open that gets regular
updates, such as sporting ones.
I still don't know where the option is to change the sound though.

Double check in Control Panel/Sounds and Audio - Sounds tab. In Windows
Explorer there is a Start Navigation and Complete Navigation options - make
sure they are set to <none>

Hi,

You sure it doesn't have anything to do with warning sounds? Mine gets
to beeping when the CPU fan gets dirty, the heat sets off the beeping.
It doesn't beep all the time though, just when the CPS gets a little
more work load, then it goes away when it cools a few degrees.

no it's not a warning sound. it's definitely linked to whatever site i'm on
because it never happens unless I've got IE running.

The web page might have the sound included in the code, in which case
there is nothing you can do, except turn down the volume of your
speakers.

You might want to post the URL so people can check and see if it is
the page.

Good luck
