Annoyed that I have to wait for 3rd parties

I have to wait about 6 MONTHS for 3rd parties to get ALL their SOFTWARE ready
for VISTA! I am bummed. I know it's new and I'm EXCITED! I love new
technology and I LOVE the new look / feel. My company is getting 40 new
systems with V-I-S-T-A-! on them and I am excited! I am annoyed though as I
am not sure how I am going to get it all to work as it seems NO ONE was / is
ready! AS IF there was NOT a multi MILLION dollar media BLITZ! If you
worked with software you had to be DEAD to not know that VISTA was coming!
They even had a few months to get ready! I started testing beta as soon as I
could and I enjoyed it. I also got the official release on Nov 30th when it
was released to business! Why didn't companies start to test then instead of
January 30th when EVERYONE had it? It is frustrating. It is as if Microsoft
should have waited ANOTHER 6 months for the software to get released! I am
SURE that the companies would have waited as well!

Frustrating. I will keep pushing them, but it is annoying!

Thank you Vista for having x64 edition! Great to move people from 32 bit
and stupid 16 bit!

Well, if you would wait, all the drivers will be out and the bugs in
Vista ironed out. You are impatient so you have to deal with it and,
trust me, the third party vendors could care less if you are angry.
Personally, I will wait at least a year before buying Vista.

Hello Matt,

Excellent Post!

Share your enthusiasm specifically regarding the security enhancements
within Vista 64-bit.

Intuition tells me, with Vista sales soaring, the third party situation will
rapidly self-resolve, just something about money and maintaining revenue...

Seriously, my conviction, persuading other *experienced* Windows users for
the never before experienced wonderful new learning curve secondary to
Vista’s Technology will prove a greater challenge compared to the third party
situation.

We humans are simply creatures of habit and too accustomed from using a
simple PnP OS compounded with seemingly being spoon fed by Microsoft, far too
many years.

Wishing you good luck during the educational process; rapidly, drivers will
encompass you...

Respectfully,

Unfortuneately, since MS and vendors have had 5 years to work it out, if the
drivers are not already out, there's a good chance they never will be.

ATI for example, is already calling much of their existing hardware
"legacy" - even though it's still sitting on stores shelves - that's their
excuse for NOT releasing drivers. They want you to buy a new card, even if
the one you have now is only a month old.

iow, don't hold your breath

Thank you for your comments Alias. As you can see from my post, I am
disagreeing with you. i do not want to get into a fight or anything. I am
curious though to talk to someone who wants to wait A FULL THREE HUNDRED AND
SIXTY F-I-V-E-!_!-! DAYS for something. That's a LONG Time. What about SP2?
Many people felt good about Windows XP SP1 and then BAM SP2 came out!? NO
ONE wanted to install it and or make it happen, but people did and are
supposedly more secure because of it.

I think it's so curious to know why people would wait a FULL YEAR when
technology changes every 18 months! You're 6 months away from a full
technology swap! That's too long in my mind to wait for something.
I am willing to wait about 6 months as that seems to be when 3rd parties
will or SHOULD have ALL their fixes out there.

The thing I am looking at is that they had YEARS to be aware of the plans to
go from XP to Vista! There is no SHOCK here, it is more of being ready. If
they are still working out the bugs or if Microsoft didn't provide them with
updated information in a timely fashion to be ready, that's a different
story. I just look at those companies I call up to say "this won't work with
Vista, are you working on anything..." and they say NOPE. I turn my business
elsewhere at that point. I want someone who is proactive and planning to get
with the program and keep up with technology.
Yes, I am anxious. I see something I like and I go for it.
I think you would do the same. Think about coupons or discounts. If you go
into a department store or online and see "$25.00 off today only!" You're a
bit MORE excited about the product (normally!). I know it doesn't always
work that way, but you might be enticed to purchase that product. For me,
this is the $25.00 off! I see Vista a slick new product and I want to work
on it. I was in the beta and I am extremely impressed with how stable the
beta was and how usable it was! Virtually little noticable differences were
presented to me. I am not a super nit picky person to the point where I went
through it with a fine tooth comb, I just used it. I found it to be stable
and friendly. YES it was "MAC LIKE" but oh well, it's just more graphical,
and looks great!

I again do NOT want seem like I am MAD or want to fight, NOT AT ALL! :) I
just want to see someone elses' opinion on something which for me, seems
great.
You can bust on Microsoft all you want, but Linux is NOT King, and Mac is
the same. Unix is something I don't know about much either but I know that
it's not something in 90%+ of businesses WORLD WIDE! That's all I am saying.
When you have a few HUNDRED (or thousand) people working on something, it
won't work 100% and when you have 3rd parties playing with it, it will NOT
work.
I had a piece of CD / DVD software that I installed to burn user data from
the system to DVD to archive. I put it in, and BAM it didn't work with XP.
Hmm funny, the new XP I had was working fine without the software! I had to
remove the software as it didn't work with my system. It did on another
system.

Trust me, it isn't. You'll be sixty before you know it.

The difficulty is that Vista RTM is only 3 months old. Any
development started before that would have been based on beta versions
of Vista that were subject to change

Some aspects of Vista that are highly relevent to application
developers, such as UAC, may have been changing right up to RTM.

But like you, I'm annoyed that some folks who should have been ready,
are not - such as the Nero Express bundled with brand-new DVD writers.
Nothing on Nero's site, nothing on the hardware vendor's site, local
distie has no news or ETA... pathetic, really.
