For all those bitten by the Sudoku bug ...

Simple Sudoku is a Sudoku puzzle maker and solver for Win9x, Win2000 & WinXP

It generates high quality puzzles that are symmetrical, with a single
solution, and do not require trial & error to solve. The user can also
choose between five levels of complexity - from Easy to Extreme. Each puzzle
is generated randomly so there is an almost limitless selection.

Not only does Simple Sudoku make challenging puzzles, it also provides tools
to help solve them - removing the drudgery but not the fun. Keeping track of
possible values for blank cells (candidates), providing filters and color
markers are just some of the tools available to make solving even those
really tricky puzzles possible. Also, if you ever get really stuck, Simple
Sudoku can get you started again with a discrete hint (without giving
everything away).

Great program! Excellent set of features, nice details in implementation.
The best of the freeware available (if you don't care for nishio's).
Thank you!

Thanks Frank.
Yes, that's a good site too but perhaps you missed that Simple Sudoku
also *makes* high quality puzzles too, not just helps you solve them.
I admit the original link I provided didn't help matters - which I
tried to correct in a followup post. Anyhow, here it is again

Thanks Angus, I like the game too. I appreciate your efforts and the fact,
that you make it available for free.
I'm sure, you also like some feedback, and I'll give it 9.5 out of 10 :)
It's really neat.
If you looking for ways to improve it, I personally find the font of the
numbers a bit too bold. For me it would be clearer, if I could adjust the
font to "regular". But I realise this falls under personal prefs and not
everyone will agree with me.
Also I would like to start the game without the candidate numbers showing,
and not having to press "ctrl-w" twice to get rid of them (also necesary,
after undoing a step).
Other than that, top marks and thank you again for a great effort.

Angus: I was not trying to disparage your program, just thought the
Sodokusolver link would be useful for lazy sods like me!!!! BTW thanks for
your excellent Resource Hacker.

I'm not too sure I'll be able to do that any time soon.

Yes, that's been fixed in the latest release.
