Animation Toolbar

After my 2007 PPT XLM compatible presentation crashed and recovered, I am not
able to customize any animations through the animation toolbar. All options
expect "Show advanced timeline" are grayed out and changes made in the Start:
drop down box above the list of animations do not take. Property: and Speed:
in this same area are also grayed out. I am working in Windows XP on a Dell
Laptop.

Please let me know what I can do.
