Animation question

I know that it is possible to bring up bulleted points
one at a time by clicking the mouse. In order to do
this, the user has to enbale the animation then number
the order in which they want their bullets to appear. My
question is, instead of using the mouse, is it possible
to assign a number to each bullet and then press the
number in order to bring up the bullet point during the
presentation. Say I wanted the fifth bullet to appear
before the second bullet based on the way the discussion
is going with my co-workers. Is this possible? Do you
even understand all my ramblings?

Hi,

If you type in a number and hit enter in a slideshow, it will, by default,
go to that slide number and show it. So it won't really work that way to
bring up bullet points.

thanks for the reply. I am familiar with numbering the
slides but I was really hoping that their would be a add-
on or an update or something of that nature to enable the
bulleted points to appear in the order that which I
choose when giving a presentation. Anybody else have any
ideas?

I don't know how you'd do this with keyboard strokes -- maybe VBA?

But if you're willing to use the mouse, and if you're using PPT 2002 or
2003, you could do this with Trigger animations very easily.

Well, in PPT 2002 and 2003, there's a thing called Trigger available in
animations.

Basically, what you do is choose an object, set an animation effect, and
then go to Effect Options. Choose the Timing tab, and you can elect to
start that animation on a click of <xyz object>.

So if you want to start an animation when you click that object, set the
trigger to start upon click of that same object. Say you want Oval 1 to
appear when you click it. Your trigger for Oval 1's animation object
would be Oval 1.

If you want to start the animation upon a click of a different object,
set the trigger to start upon click of that different object. Say you
want Oval 1 to appear when you click the blue rectangle. Your trigger
for Oval 1's animation object would be Blue Rectangle.

http://www.echosvoice.com/individualbullets.htm#BulletedTextAnimation
has some images which may help you. One of these days I'll do a real
Trigger tutorial.

Oh, and on the animation features page, there is a Jeopardy game
download which also has a ton of trigger effects set. That might help
you see it, too. http://www.echosvoice.com/animationfeatures.htm

Thanks for the help Echo. It wasn't exactly what I was
looking for but I think I can rig it and make it work.
Much appreciated for the time.
