Custom text animation query

(Powerpoint 2003)

I have a sequence of bullet points which are appearing on click one by one,
as follows:

Main Bullet (1)
Sub Bullet (2)
Sub Bullet (3)
Sub Bullet (4)
Main Bullet (5)
Main Bullet (6)

After animation I want to change font color to grey when the next bullet
appears, which I can do using Effect Options.

The problem I have is that I want to have main bullet 1, then sub bullets
2-4 appear in sequence, then have all four of those change to grey
simultaneously when main bullet 5 is animated. I seem only to be able to
change to grey one by one.

Unfortunately the sub bullets need to appear separately. This is where I got
stuck!

While you are both correct that this can't be done with Effect Options, it
can be easily done with emphasis animations. I have a screen recording that
might help. This technique will work in any version of PPT newer than 2002.
