When I installed IE6 the animated gifs displayed on
webpages don't animate. Just the first frame is shown. In
the browser, going to tools, internet options, advanced,
clicking on "Play animations in web pages" doesn't fix the
problem. The same pages show the gifs animated when using
Netscape. Redownloading IE6 did not fix the problem.
Any ideas?

Do you have a firewall? ZoneAlarm for example can disable them under the
Privacy settings.

BINGO!

I had thought I looked everywhere there. But I have
zonealarm and I found under privacy, mobile code control,
custom, Ad blocking, Ads to block, animation.

Thanks for the push to go back through zonealarm. I wonder
why Netscape would play the gifs?

I haven't used ZoneAlarm for quite a while but some of it's settings are per
application so it may have blocked them for IE but not Netscape.
