Hi,

I have an animated gif, which appears on a slide after a custom
animation effect. However, it starts its evolution long before it is
visible on the screen.

Is there a way to make an animated gif wait until it is shown before it
"animates".

Thanks!

What version of PPT are you using. Animated Gifs do not work the same in all
versions (not at all in 97, Sort of in 2000, pretty good in XP and up).

Hi,

I'm using v 2003 under XP. Thanks for any help. I'm still having the
problem.

Well, you are using a version of PPT that respects animated gifs as much as
possible, so the easy answers (such as, that is not going to work with your
version) are not going to work. The real answer is that an animated gif
begins doing it animation as soon as it appears in the timeline. So if it
has an animated entrance of FADE, set to VERY SLOW (which takes 5 seconds to
fully appear), the animated gif will have gone through the first 5 seconds
of its animation before it is fully there. The solution is to build the
animated gif with a delay before its animation sequence begins. The delay
should match the PPT animation timing, in this case 5 seconds.
