Andy,
yep im taking your advice and holding the new computer
until Windows Vista is fully released and worth getting
after SP1 probably!

I am deciding to upgrade my system components but im not
very hot on my configuration, it is a dual Xeon set-up
and very wierd inside with allsorts of contraptions lol!

anyway,
Thank you for taking the time out to supplying me with
those links, some dont work but the ones that did are
very useful.

Cheers mate, happy days and hope everythin else is good

No Problem

All the links work, I think the problem might be when you
copy and paste them into the address bar it will only
take the first line so you then need to copy and paste
the rest of it if that makes sense ;)

Like with this line:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/64bit/russel_x64f
aq.mspx

If I copy and paste this into my browser it will only
enter this part

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/64bit/russel_x64f

so then I need to copy and paste the second line to the
end of it

aq.mspx

to make the page open, Im assuming this is the problem
but let me know if you have already done this, They are
just general pages though and was just to give you more
info on the questions you asked so Im sure there is many
others like it.

All the best

Andy

If you're waiting till after SP1 of Vista, you've got a good wait. Probably
about 2 years.

My guess would be closer to 3 years.since Windows XP seems to be on a 2 year
cycle for Service Packs.

Interestingly, I was looking at Bink.nu today an they are
going for 15 November 2006. Guess time will tell.

Indeed you were. I should have made myself clearer. I was
implying with a Vista release of November 2006 then your 3
year estimate for SP1 highly likely.
