Analysis ToolPak - why doesn't it work?

Hi!

I want to use the data analysis tools in excel 2003, so I've selected and
installed the Analysis ToolPak from the add ins list. But I still can't find
the data analysis tools in the Tool menu - what can I do?

I would try unchecking and then rechecking the addin.

If that doesn't work, then make sure the addin is checked and then check within
the VBE to see if the addin is indeed loaded.

Open the VBE (alt-f11)
Show the project explorer (ctrl-r)
Look for funcres(FUNCRES.XLA)

If that doesn't show up, then the analysis toolpak isn't loaded.

Maybe reinstalling from the distribution disk would be order???

ps. Are you sure you're checking "Analysis ToolPak" and not "Analysis ToolPak
-- VBA"?

the added tools are within the "Data Analysis" group that is added under
Tools once the Toolpak is installed. There are also specific worksheet
functions added when the Analysis Toolpak is installed.

One more way to test to see if the addin is loaded.

Start a new worksheet
put this in B1:
=networkdays(a1,a2)

If you see the #NAME? error, then the analysis toolpak is not loaded.

If you see 0, then the analysis toolpack is loaded, but the item under the Tools
menu is broken and needs to be fixed. (I still try uninstalling and
reinstalling the addin.)
