estew said:The problem certainly does occur with Windows Mail. We have hundreds of
e-mails which we cannot delete. Never had any problems with Outlook Express
and XP. It's gotta be Vista.
Dave said:I've been using Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail ever since they were
released, with no problems.
If the FREE Windows Mail, or the FREE Windows Live Mail don't do what you
want, then you might try the FREE Thunderbird, Eudora, Opera, Pegasus or
other programs.
Or purchase the more robust Outlook program.
BONNY1957 said:You know what!!!! For the cost of these #@#@# programs you would think
someone could get off their back ends and fix the problem. I should not
have
to try all these magic tricks to do something as simple as DELETE MY
EMAIL!!!!!!! TRY SOMETHING NEW FIX THE THE
PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear that WLM seems to be working out for you.
WLM seems to be less sensitive to interference from antivirus
programs than WM, but if a problem develops, you'll know what
to do.

I went ahead and installed Windows Live Mail without uninstalling
TrendMicro.
Hopefully TrendMicro will fix this situation. If not, Windows Live
works fine.
Thanks for your help. I didn't even know that Windows Live Mail even
exists!
:
You might try uninstalling your antivirus program.
If that does not help, I suggest upgrading to Windows Live Mail:

Unfortunately, that did not help.

Have you checked the button for My server requires authentication
and tried changing the outgoing port to 587?

Here is the full error message:
An unknown error has occurred. Account: '', Server:
'mail.comcast.net',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x80004005. I
also
get the unknown error message when trying to delete messages and
send
messages.
I left out the account name for security reasons.
I did try both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Neither were
deemed
appropriate!
Email is Comcast, and IE for the browser, though the internet
service is
Comcast.
I have sent an email to TrendMicro to see if that is the problem.
If I
exit
out of TrendMicro all together, so that it's not running (but
still
installed), it doesn't help.
ARRGH!

This is so weird. I have read some of the other posts, and
tried the
fix
which was shown, but to no avail (Microsoft says that fix
doesn't
apply
to my
system). I can't delete out messages, or send messages, or
download
messages. When I try to download I get error 0x80004005.
I've tried
doing a
system restore, scanning for viruses and spyware, getting
Windows
Defender to
check for problems. I do have Vista. It seemed to
straighten itself
out
this morning, but now it's doing the same thing again. Any
ideas?
Showing the full error message would get you help faster.
For the fix, I assume you tried both the 32-bit version and the
64-bit
version? Whichever was the wrong one for your system would
probably say that.
Who is your email provider (probably also your internet
provider)?
