Hi! I have a problem! I lost my Windows XP CD, and i want to install Windows
again... I've got my serial number and i want to know if i could download it

Thanks!

To start, a tip: Don't post your email address in a newsgroup post.
That's an invitation to spam.

If you have the original product key to your copy of Windows - this is
often found on a sticker attached to your computer - you can use any
same type Windows CD to reinstall Windows, so long as you enter your own
product key when requested during the installation.

Think of it this way (although it's an oversimplification): All Windows
CDs are alike. What makes Windows 'yours' is the product key you enter
during installation.

I'M A COMPLETE *BOZO*!

What I said, applies to Vista, NOT to XP. With XP you need the EXACT
same type of disc that your key is for.

Nice try, Murphy. But anyone can tell the difference between me (the
real me) and you.

Yeah, Murphy wouldn't have given a Vista answer to an XP question like
you did, bozo. BTW...If I'm Murphy, how come my posts are coming from
the USA, dumbass?

My best advice - find anyone with windows XP with the same licence as yours
(chances are it's Home Edition OEM, but do check), approach them with a
blank CD and a six-pack of beer, and ask them to make you a copy.

No, it's not illegal, nor does it contravene the licence to make a backup
copy.

And this time, keep it safe!
