An issue with Windows Mail and adding Recepients to TO: field

In windows XP, in Outlook Express when I type the first letter of a mail
recepients/contacts name in the TO: field, the whole name pops up. Then I
can do the same for additional contacts if I'm sending email to multiple
recepients. It's fast an easy.
In Vista, in Windows Mail however, this does not seem possible. I have to
type each name in full. Is there a way to enable this automatic fill-in in
Windows Mail somehow? Thank you in advance.

The auto-complete in Windows Mail just doesn't work correctly.
It keeps a separate list of the last 29 addresses you've typed in, including
bad ones.
This list is kept in the registry (in binary).
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.

Windows Mail will only remember the most recent 29 names you e-mailed to. If
the contact is not one of the 29, you'll have to either type in the address,
or open your contact mailing list, find the name/address, copy it, paste it
into the TO column.
Windows Live Mail, however, remembers the entire contact list.
