AMD64 + SP2 : System hangs on shutdown

After having installed Service Pack 2 on my system (AMD Athlon 64), it
hangs at the end of the shutdown procedure. The harddisk is audibly
switched off, but this is where it stops.

I have tried to quit all third-party tools (Babylon etc.) before
shutdown manually, but that doesn't solve the problem. I haven't
changed the hardware or installed new drivers. The problems described
in http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm do not seem to apply.

Booting and rebooting still work finde.

I'm out of ideas and would appreciate suggestions. TIA.
