Athlon64 processors are capable of running Windows XP 32bit just fine.
They also support the 64bit version of Windows XP which is a bit more
limited at the time because 64bit software/drivers are still being
developed as it is a new platform. You should run into very few
problems if any with an Athlon64 Processor and 32bit Windows XP
Hi Nathan.
You said that there should be very few problems with using an Athlon64 and
WinXP pro 32-bit, but i have a problem that you may be able to advise on. I
(like most other people it seems) just built myself a new Athlon64 pc and
tried to install WinXP Pro 32-bit but every time i tried (which was a few
btw) i got the same error. Something to do with setup not being able to
install a necessary component "gdiplus.man". The error came up as a cyclic
redundancy check error.
I was trying to install to a 20GB partition of a 200GB western digital SATA
hard disk; is this the cause of the problem.
I could do with trying to sort this out as i've had to resort to using the
beta of WinXP 64-bit.
Any help would be much appreciated,
