AMD 3000+ Correct Config?

Hello,

I just bought a new AMD 3000+ Chip(Venice) and am thinking that it
needs to be tweaked I'm not into overclocking, but when I look at the
properties in windows it says it's 1.81 gHz. So, what do I need to
adjust to get that number higher? CPU Frequency(set at 200 now)? CPU
Multiplier (set at 1.0 currently)?

And what is a safe amount?

thanks in advance

The 3000+ name is not the CPU's actual clock speed. It refers
to what Pentium clock it compares to. The Athlon64 3000+ Venice's
actual clock speed is 1.8Ghz. Even though the clock speed is low, it
runs as fast, or faster than it's Intel counter part.

Hi,
1.8Ghz is the correct frequency for your CPU, see here:

Don't forget, on AMD's the 3000+ isn't an indication of speed, its a
performance rating.

OK, that's great information. Wanted to make sure that I didn't waste
my money. So, if this is the case, then I could have sworn when I had
an AMD 2700+ (only 32 bit) that it was running at 2.1 or 2.2 gHz. Did
I degrade?

Or are you saying that the AMD at 1.8 compares to the Intel at 3.0?

What would the clockspeed of a AMD 64 4000+ run at?

Sorry for so many questions :)

Yes

It's on that AMD page I linked to in my last post.
Sorry for so many questions :)

Different chip architecture.

I have that CPU, and I have set it to just over 2 ghz with no problem.
These days you can tweak it very easily through bios settings. It's
kid stuff, but what the hell.

Be sure you keep it cool. I removed the thermal pad and used Arctic
Silver grease, and I have an extra fan blowing on my motherboard.
