Upgrade Athlon XP 3000+ to Opteron 152?

All other things about normal, what's this upgrade going to do for me?

Athlon XP 3000+ (2.1 GHz, 400MHz bus, 512KB cache)
Opteron 152 (2.6 GHz, 1 GHz bus I guess, 1MB cache)

Both using PC3200 system memory. I guess the multiplier on the Opteron
is higher.

For what it's worth, I don't care about overclocking.

Thank you.

Quite a fair bit. In addition to the obvious 25% increase in clock
speed, the 1MB cache has a large impact as will the improved
architecture.

Quite a fair bit.

I will add definition to that soon. But I will be using an FX5200 PCI
video card until I can afford a PCI Express 16 card.

The Opteron stock heatsink/fan includes a heatpipe.

The copyright on the chip is 2001. Its manufacture date appears to be
2003, I'm not sure how to tell.

I think the Opteron 152 is doing pretty well. Apparently it's a good
value at $170 with a heat pipe heatsink/fan included, but it's not
as close to state-of-the-art as I thought.

The Opteron CPU multiplier is locked, but I can overclock the front
side bus (FSB) or whatever it is indicated in the BIOS by 8%
(apparently the system automatically overclocks up to that value
when the CPU is being heavily used) and then it runs slightly faster
than a non-overclocked Athlon 64 FX-57. Seems stable after six or
eight hours. The overclocking doesn't seem to affect the temperature
very much. It runs cooler than my Athlon XP 3000+.
