Always running - why?

Even if I disable the active scan the program is always
running. I just want to use it occassionally like AdAware
and others. I don't want the thing on all the time. I've
looked all through the settings and all i can find is for
it not to show up in the system tray, but that doesn't
turn it off.

same question here however I will say this is not new
when it was giant anti-spy I tried it and dumped it because
no matter how you set it does what it wants. I was
hoping that MS would make the check boxes function
but it appears they can't figure it out either

I think this is the Real-time Protection; you can turn it off in Options
-> Settings -> Real-time Protection.

I actually like it; it warns me if unwelcome ActiveX or other things are
installed on my system without prompting me.

tried to turn it off in options but it won't listen
tried every option turned off and when you start windows it is
sitting in sys tray enabled. finally turned off with startup manager
