Alternative to IE

Msnbc.com has free news videos you can watch, but you must be using
Internet Explorer.

I've come across a few other websites where the pages didn't look
natural with Firefox. As Firefox gets more popular, web designers will
probably take this in consideration and make the necessary changes.

Just about any MSFT site which relies exclusively on DestructiveX will not
work in any browser other than MS Internet Explorer. That is MSFT's bid to
control the Internet; it isn't working.

Just about any site which expects a significant number of hits from all
over the world will first code their pages to W3C standards. If they do
that, the browser used shouldn't make any difference. However, a lot of web
masters are still in the thrall of the Gnomes of Redmond; their loss (the
web masters).

IE 7 won't work with previous oses. A lot of people still use
windows 98, &ME.

Firefox will still work with 98se, me (I also heard it would even work
on windows 95 with some tweak)

If this is true I am interested in that tweak...

I just today discovered that IE now has tabbed browsing, with the aid of MSN
Toolbar with Desktop Search. Very little fanfare. Although the implementation
is simple for now, it provides the main benefits of tabbed browsing within IE.

IE is simply a far better browser than Firefox, and Firefox's tabbed
browsing edge has been substantially diminished although not eliminated. The
main thing that makes IE much better in general isn't just compatibility with
more web sites, but the tremendous interoperability enjoyed by IE users. You
can't send a web page to OneNote or even most of the non-MS notetaking
applicatons from Firefox, for example. You can't even drag and drop clippings
outside of Firefox, because of the absence of active X.

Firefox has been way overestimated. Why? Because it seems churlish to knock
something that's free, unless it's a Microsoft free product. But Firefox
wears it incapacity on its sleeve. Check out how you can't even change skins
on the fly, but have to quit the program first. This in the third millennium!

I will still continue to use firefox. Most sites except msn and few
banking sites firefox will work just fine. There is or was an xpi
for changing skins on the fly. Also, IE 7 won't work on 95, 95b,
98se, ME Firefox will. (needs to be tweaks for windows 95,95b and
98FE)

Get a different theme some will make those tabs bigger, some will make
it smaller. I use the pinball theme.

Who's looking back? Netscape is Netscape, even when you call it a puerile new
name like 'Firefox' or 'Mozilla.' It had it's day in the sun and lost years
ago. It has as much a chance of winning a new browser war as the U.S. South
has of winning a new Civil War.

Fuzzy Logic

No browser is perfect. It's important to find a well supported browser YOU
like, learn it's features (security and otherwise) and use them. Keep it and
any other software on your computer up to date and you hopefully will
minimize your exposure to risks.

Here is a good read on this topic:

The above is one long link and has likely wrapped.

Not true. I think you need to go read some of
http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php

Get you facts straight.

Firefox is no way related to Netscape. It even works different than
mozilla browsers. The group mozilla pulled away from netscape and
aol. Yes, the may all use the Gecko engine. Anyone could use the
Gecko engine if they wanted to-even Microsoft could. The Gecko engine
is open source.

Actually Firefox has more than a few ties to Netcape:
