Alternating backgrounds: are they possible in PPT

Greetings. I plan to develop a new template (POT) and am wondering
if it is possible to design alternating backgrounds (for example, one
of odd number slides and one for even number slides).

Suggestions and pointers will be appreciated.

In PowerPoint 2002/2003 you have a Multiple Master capability.

View > Master > Slide Master
When you insert new slide masters or title master you can vary the background.
Right click on each master set to "Rename" it
Save as a POT

Now these two different masters will appear in the Task Pane at your right
when you click the Design button in your Format Tool Bar (or click Format >
Slide Design). To apply a specific design, click on the thumb nail drop down
menu...
