alternate keypad not working

I hope I'm in the right place to ask this question.....if not, please direct
me to the appropriate group. Thx!

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition and have a Saitek Eclipse
keyboard. The problem is that my alternate keypad isn't working. You know,
when you hold the "alt" key and type "0189" on the 10-key pad and the "1/2"
symbol comes up and so forth.....that function isn't working. Instead of the
correct symbol coming up, I get funny-looking little circle things and
sometimes nothing at all. Yes, I made sure the number lock was turned on.
I've been told that maybe Media Center Edition doesn't support that function,
and someone else told me I might need to download a new driver for the
keyboard. But I have no idea if either of these ideas is right. Has anyone
else had this problem or does anybody know of a way to fix it? I would
really appreciate any ideas or solutions as it's driving me nuts not to have
my symbols! Thanks in advance and have a great day!!! :)

Whoever told you that Media Center doesn't support this is wrong. This is a
standard across all Windows versions and editions.

If you're getting a symbol at all, could it possiblly be that the character
you're expecting doesn't exist in the character set of the font you're using
at the time? Just a thought.

½ worked there. Try doing it in this post and see what comes up in this
plain text box.
