2003 version of FrontPage--How do I insert ALT tags for JPEG photos on my web
paage? Some are thumbnails and most are in the Photo Gallery feature.

Right Click on the photo>"Picture Properties">(New Window)
At the top select the "General Tab">Middle of the window= Alternative
representation Enter the text you will see when mouseover (or the picture
doesn't load)

As for the large photos They do not have a page and are displayed as a photo
only.

Be aware that alt attributes (not tags) are only intended for display when
browsers have graphics turned off - bob alluded to this in his answer. If
you are looking for a 'tooltip' display of that information in all browsers
then use the title attribute.

You would have to insert them manually.

Thanks, Bob
This works for individual pictures. What do I do for pictures within a
Photo Gallery?

You mean a FP photo gallery? Ugh - I'm not sure. I have not used that....

In general, though, you would have to edit each page's instance of each
image.

You can not set any html tags or text for the photos, unless you actually insert each large photo on
a page and then change the link from each thumbnail to the page with the large image.
