Alphabetizing not working -Word 2007

I have a basic list that I am trying to alphabetize. It's not a numbered or
bulleted list. I have selected all, clicked the alphabetize button, & use the
"paragraph - text" option, but the list doesn't alphabetize.

I did see other answers saying to use the table-sort option. Is this
referring to the Insert - table link? If so, there is no sort option.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Table | Sort is the menu path for Word 2003 and earlier. You're using the
right command for Word 2007. Are you sure your list is actually separate
paragraphs? Display nonprinting characters (Ctrl+*) and make sure that each
ends in a paragraph mark (¶) and not a line break.

The text in the header ends with the paragraph mark. The list has an arrow
that drops down and turns left. Is that a line break? I did do a shift enter
after each entry to single space them.

Yes, those are line breaks. You'll need to replace them with paragraph
breaks in order to sort. You can do this with Replace (Ctrl+H). Replace ^l
(lowercase L) with ^p. After you've sorted you can reverse the process to
put them back into a single paragraph.

Woo Hoo! It worked. Now I understand why I've had this problem before too.
Thank you!!
