AllWebMenus

Help! I import my navigation page to AllWEbMenus and get exactly what I
want in the AllWebMenu preview but I want it to show up on a left boarder so
I can get it approved and then add shared boarders left to the pages I use.

One thing is that my navigation Structure heading are not htm pages. Do I
need to do that? How do I get my AllWEbMenus preview to show up on my
newhome.html page

the url is www.instrulab.com/newhome.html

Don't know how AllWebMenu works
But shared borders only include the content (from a valid html page) inside of the body tags of that page
- in your case left.htm in the_borders folder
So all scripts must be inside of the BODY tags in left.htm

The code for the menu for AllWebMenu is in the shared border that is at the
bottom of your FP web.........if you used the tool that is part of
AllWebMenu to integrate the menu with FP. So if you have a bottom shared
border on all of your pages your menu will show on all pages with just the
code from the bottom border. The placement of the menu will be where ever
you tell it to be when designing the menu even though the code is in the
bottom border.

Thanks

Do you know if AWM has to use that bottom shared border (mine will display a
bunch of ddddd's in it). I've been experimenting with AWM haven't used it on
a web yet.

It doesn't have to use the shared border but you would then have to code
each page that you want the menu to appear on. I have one web site that I
have the code for the menu within the main part of each of the pages. I
built that web site before AWM version 4 and was not familure with how the
program worked. I now have v 4.0 of AWM Pro and have another web with the
menu based off of the FrontPage menu structure part of the menu and the code
is placed in the bottom boarder of the site. Again.....that's just the code
for the menu.....not the menu it's self. The menu is at the top of the page
where I've told the AWM program to make the menu appear. When using AWM with
FrontPage you have to make changes to the structure of the menu (such as
where each page appears on the menu) in FrontPage. It makes adding new pages
and placing them in the AWM menu very easy. If you didn't want anything at
the bottom on the bottom boarder you could still have it turned on for AWM
but just not put anything on that boarder. I just depends on the structure
of your web and how you want the menu/menu's to be configured.

Thanks
Jeff

P.S. Are you guys using AWM Pro 4.0 or 3.1

In what step do you tell AWM where to put the menu? I have a banner in top
shared boarders. Can I put the menu below that and If I turn on bottom
shared boarders for one or two pages will the AWM menu appear in all pages
anyway?

I have included a link from the Likno web site that tells about integrating
the AWM with a FrontPage web. http://www.likno.com/frontpage.html To answer
your question " If I turn on bottom shared boarders for one or two pages
will the AWM menu appear in all pages anyway?" The answer is no.The only
pages that will have the menu is the ones that have the "Bottom shared
boarder" turned on. Again.......that is where the code for the menu is. If
you do not use the AWM to integrate with the FrontPage menu structure the
code will be placed in each of the pages that you select when "Compiling"
the menu. Another point I want to be clear on is the fact that just because
the code for the menu is in the (Bottom)boarder has no relevance on where
the menu appears on the web page it's self. When you ask " In what step do
you tell AWM where to put the menu? " if you are talking about the code
there is no step if you choose to integrate the menu with the FrontPage
add-in of AWM. It automatically puts the code in the bottom boarder. If you
are talking about how to tell AWM where you want the menu placed on your
pages that is done with the "Positioning" properties in AWM editor under
"Global Properties". It will allow you to put the menu on the top left, top
right just to name a few options. You can also tell it to have the menu be 3
pixels down from the top of your page and 3 pixels over from the left side
of the page or any number that suits your needs.

I hope I didn't go over board with this. I know how I was when I first
started using AWM. It is a great program for making menus and it is very
versatile. But.....it takes some work to learn. A whole lot less work though
than coding your own menu!

I would be interested in knowing the version of AWM that you are using. It
helps me know what version to look at when posting answers to questions.

Thanks
Jeff
