Allowing multiple runs

I have a program that uses a suite of cds to hold data - I
have copied the contents of a few of these cds onto one of
my hard drives and managed to find the lines in the
relevent .ini files to direct the program to the new files.

I would now like to run multiple instances of the program
at one time - Is there a "typical" method used in Windows
(2kPro) to stop multiple instances that I could
investigate? eg a flag in registry? Are there any dangers
I should be aware of?

thank you, jay

AFAIK it's not something the operating system controls. Ask the application
developer.
