All User Accounts Disappeared-Stuck on Welcome Screen w/ nowhere t

We booted up our computer today and the Welcome Screen comes up (like
normal), except with none of our3 User Accounts. The only thing it allows us
to do is click on the exit-link at the bottom left of the screen to go to
Standby, Shut Down or Restart.

I've tried Safe Mode, same thing - no User Accounts and I'm stuck on the
Welcome screen. I'm either doing something wrong in my 'fix' attempts,
missing the correct fix altogether, or wearing the wrong color socks....!

Any ideas?

1. Boot into Safe Mode, by pressing F8 during the early boot phase.
2. Log on as Administrator.
3. Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
4. Type this command:
net user {Enter}
5. Report which users accounts you can see.

Thanks! When following the instructions, I get the following user accounts
showing:

Administrator, Boys, Cindy, Guest, Help Assistant and Owner. I'm noticing
that my User account (Stephen) is not listed...? It also gave some
additional info below the User accounts that were listed. The additional
info is as follows:

SUPPORT_388945a0
The command completed with one or more errors.

Am I done for...?

It depends on what you mean by "done for".

If you ask whether the logon account "Stephen" is history then the
answer is probably "yes".

If you ask whether the data kept under the "Stephen" profile is history
then the answer depends on several factors.
- Does the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen" still exist?
If yes then you can retrieve your files from there.
- Do you back up your important files regularly or do you prefer to
wait until after disaster has struck? If you back up regularly
then you can restore your files from your backup medium. If you
don't then this would be a good time to review your backup
philosophy. A 2.5" disk in an external USB case makes for a
low-cost but highly effictive backup medium, as long as it is
kept well away from the PC for most of the time.
