all sounds echo

all the sounds and files that are played echo how can i fix this problem
 
I wish I could give you an answer because it's happening to me too. If you found out how to stop all sounds, music, etc. from echoing, please post the solution. Thanks.
 
Hey...looks like there's at least 3 of us with this problem. The only thing that I've installed on my PC in since it happened in The Sims.
 
Okay, I just figured it out on my own. Give this a try...

Bring up the audio configuration. Somehow, mine had been switched to "bathroom" instead of "none" on the "sound effect" tab.
 
Okay, i have the same problem, but its half sorted, ive managed to get rid of the echo in media player, by following the advice in another post, cant remeber which, but it sugested going to "view" then enhancements, and deselecting "SRS WOW effects". this has got rid of my echoing problem in media player, but still got it in all other applications.
