Right click on the taskbar and select Properties. The taskbar and start menu
properties window will open. Click the Start menu tab. When this window
opens click the Customise button. In the customise start menu window click
on the Advanced tab. At the top you will see a section marked 'Start Menu
settings' Within this section you will see an option marked 'Highlight newly
installed programs' Remove the check mark from the box on the left of this
option. Click the Ok button. In the next screen click Apply followed by Ok
to exit.
