All of my programs are opening up as a wordpad file

Recently we did a full system scan with the norton anti-virus and it detected
a couple spyware and adware files ... norton couldnt delete them ... now for
some reason .. everytime i open up a program ... most of them ... like for
instance i open up windows media player ... a wordpad file comes up instead
of the actual program ... can anyone help me out with this?

I was getting a similar problem but all my programs wanted to open up in
explorer rather than my AOL or the website (and I was getting explorer popups
like crazy). I had to download adware and now my problem is resolved.
Don't know if this is your problem!
