All of a sudden I cannot send or receive email

I have checked all the usual settings (ingoing & outgoing server settings
etc.) and there are no problems. I have contacted my provider and verified
that my connection is working properly. I was able to view my email using
their website through my browser. Is it possible that a recent update to
Outlook is causing this issue?

Hi,
which version of outlook do you use?
Which provider do you use?
Which updates have you installed?

Thanks for your response. I am using MS Outlook 2003 SP1. My provider is
Cox Communications via cable modem. I am not sure about the updates. Whe I
first realised I had a problem, I checked for and installed all recommended
updates. Note that the most recent updates were after the problem was
noticed.

Andreas,
I thank you for your interest and response. It turns out that the problem
started after a recent live update of my Norton Internet Security. I was
trying different things and realised that when Norton Security was disabled,
some mail got through. There seems to have been a conflict between The
Window's security (SP2??) and Norton's. After confirming that the Windows
firewall was disabled, I was guided to delete all the programs that were then
in the manual control programs listing of Norton's firewall and then have the
program reinsert them.
I am now able to send and receive email normally with all the Norton
security features turned on.
I hope my experience saves someone else some anxiety.
Thank you again.

Wayne
