All folders have lost thier share properties on the server.

On my 2k server I found all the users folders (their homedrive) had become
unshared. I have to go back in to properties, choose shared and their
username automatically pops into the shared name, I then add the $ , apply,
and they are back in business. This is going to be very tedious. First, does
anyone know why this happened, and secondly, is their some type of script
that will allow me to read import all user names for a text file, share that
folder and add the $?
Thanks

I'd restore the registry. This info. is all contained under HKLM\ System\
CurrentControlSet\ Services\ lanmanserver\ shares\

Thanks very much. I think in the future I may just export that hive from the
registry just in case.

pt is right, and I almost didn't respond with the following:

"This almost never happens and when it does it usually
represents a registry problem as pt indicates."

Your idea to save the registry is fine, but finding the REASON
for this (since it is very uncommon) might be better.

For saving the registry, I suggest you go (almost) all the way
and just do a System State Backup.

Excellent tip! I agree with Herb's comment about finding out why the problem
exists, but it sure will come in handy as a work around and in certain
special circumstances....
