All emails attachments are opened in read only mode

Outlook 2003.
Just upgraded to 2003 and any email recived that has a word or excel
attachment is opened always in read only mode.
Where is this turned off??

Outlook does not control how an attachment is opened as far as being read
only. The first thing you may want to check is to make sure that Microsoft
Office is activated. If you install office and do not activate it before
the max number of grace period uses is hit then Office goes into Reduced
Functionality Mode which does not let you modify or save documents.
