all drives "incorrect function" post-SP4

All my drives (the dvd/cd, external devices) say "D: is
not accessible. Incorrect function."

This happened last month after I installed SP4. Support
suggested I reinstall my operating system (W2K). I did,
and it was working fine until I installed SP4 again, and
the same problem has returned. (I can't uninstall SP4 I
don't think because I didn't make a back-up copy when
prompted during the install) I am devistated! Can anyone
help?

I installed SP4 and everything went haywire! so I
uninstalled it by going to Control Panel/Add/Remove
Programs. Then I downloaded only SP3 and all critical
updates except SP4. Right now, all is working very well.
Hope this helps (hope mine lasts!).

If your A: drive has also gone missing, AND you are using Norton A-V you
may want to search for that error message on their site for the article
that explains how to fix the problem.
