When I start my win2k PC all of the folders and top level
documents, (docs NOT in a folder), in the "My Documents"
folder open automatically. Anybody see this before?
Thanks,
Randy

That is the default of opening Windows Explorer. If you want to open Windows Explorer at the root then put a shortcut on your desktop and point the shortcut to C:\WINNT\explorer.scf

C:\WINNT\explorer.scfThank you for your response but I don't beleve that you
understood what I am trying to say; when windows starts
up, either from a soft or hard boot, all of the folders
that are in "My Documents" open up simultaineously on my
desktop in indivdual windows. Also, all of my MSword
documents that are in "My Documents" (top level) open in
MSword all at the same time. So that when the system
finishes starting up I have a half a dozen Explorer views
open, each one corresponding to folder that resides
in "My Documents," as well as MSWord running with a
nested open document for each one of my word documents
that I have in "My Documents."

It is, as if, I went into "My Documents" and double
clicked on each and every object at the top level.

Thank you,
Randy

Randy I wish I did not misunderstand you. Life would be so much easier. When I first read your op I wasn't sure what you were saying and I am sorry to say, I do now. I have never seen this or heard of it. All I can figure is your shell has some nasty things attached as options on the executable. Your shell is likely explorer.exe. The shell is what provides that bitmap that we commonly call the desktop. So I suspect your desktop is loading more then just the desktop.

When did this start? Did you just turn on the machine one day and what you described happened?

Look in Start - Programs - Startup. Is there a link to My Documents in this
folder? If so delete it. If not, post back for instructions in obtaining
and using MSConfig.
