All directories read only

Unfortunately ArcGIS does respect explorer read only
attribute.

All my directories are read only so I cannot save new
files anyhwere on my 10 drives.

I was able to remove the read only attribute with explorer
before but cannot now.

I read the ms tech page, used attribute -r *.* /s /d.
this like the explorer option looks like it's working but
explorer still reports the directories are read only.

All your help and ms tech page implies I did this by
forcing all folders to match the current folder. How do I
undo that?

The Read-only box in the properties dialog for a folder does not accurately reflect nor is it able
to set or clear the read-only bit for a folder. More importantly, the read-only bit for a folder
does not govern whether or not a folder can be written to, but tells explorer whether or not to
process the desktop.ini file within that folder.

To accurately view the state of the attribute, add the 'attribute' column to an explorer window in
detail view. To set or clear the attribute, use the 'attrib' command in a command prompt window.
