Folder set to read only

Tom

Hi

Using XPP I have a folder called Temp on the D drive. If I right click on
the folder its attributes are read only. If remove the tick from the read
only box & click apply, & then re-right click on that folder it is still
read only.

Going to a dos prompt & using attrib -r d:\temp does not remove the read
only attribute.

Any advice/suggestions as how I can remove the read only attribute to this
folder would be appreciated.

TIA

Tom

As you've noticed, it can't be removed from folders, although that isn't
anything to worry about.

Sure, it does. Doublecheck with ATTRIB d:\temp
Any read-only attribute "R"?

Quite normal. It;s a feature of XP.

You are merely misinterpreting what you see. The "check" is greyed out
meaning indeterminate. It has no meaning. You may use the checkbox to
set and unset Read-only for the files contained in the folder. That's
all it does.
