That's a bit like sayting 'My car won't start'. You will need to provide a
lot more information. However, while editing text that contains bookmarks it
is all to easy to overwrite the text and lose the bookmarks. It would help
you to display bookmarks, which you can setup from Word's options.

There's not much information to give. I was just either editing the footer,
copying and pasting or changing a style from all caps format and POOF!, next
thing I know, I notice there are no bracket around my bookmarks. So I went
to Insert > Bookmark and they were all gone. But all my fields were still
there.
It is impossible to diagnose the problem from the information provided - if
it happens again, use CTRL+Z to backup to the point where the bookmarks are
restored and then establish what the last step was that caused them to be
deleted.
