All audio files sound like the chipmonks, my CDs, any MP3s i might rip, even
when I am streaming content - regardless of what media player I use.

Following the advice of others I have tried to fix by adjusting my hardware
acceleration (ie, Control Panel, Sounds, speakers and so on) but this hasn't
worked.

I have scanned news groups everywhere looking for a solution but to no avail.

ANyone with any other ideas???

Thanks

Open device mgr, scroll to sounds, expand the tree, locate the audio hardware,
R.click,select uninstall,close out,do not restart,then shut-down
computer,power-
off.If you have a sound card installed, remove card, install in diffrent pci
slot,re-
start computer.Try with or w/o card. Also, download drivers from mfg web site,
and download codec installation package from microsoft-downloads-media.
