i have a AW laptop with 60gig hd and 1 gig memory at 3.2ghz this machine
should be fast but its not it ruins slower than my desktop at 3.0ghz i have
windows xp pro on both units if i add a gig of mem to lqaptop will it be
faster or are there services that i need to turn off on it to allow it to run
faster? PLEASE HELP

Compare the specs of your hard drives. It may be your
desktop PC has a 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Ultra ATA133
hard drive and your laptop a 4200 RPM 2MB Cache
ATA100 hard drive. Laptops are seldom faster than
comparable desktop PCs. You really won't see much
of a performance increase by adding another 1GB RAM
or monkeying around with the services in your laptop.

It's probably the Hard Drive. Upgrade it to a 7200 RPM HD with an 8 or 16 MB
buffer.
