alias rules vs. accounts that funnel to a current account

I am a recruiter and would like either an alias that I can set a rule on so
that I can send a blanket response to those that send emails to that "resume"
alias.

OR (and even better), I would like a separate account that funnels to my
current email address that does not have my company name in the address.

My admin set up an alias, but when someone emails me on that alias my name
shows up, not the alias address, so my rules fail to work. I do not think my
admin knows how (if it is possible) to set up server side rules, although I
did ask him about that.

He says as far as he knows it is impossible to create a separate account
without a company name in the address, or for anything other than an alias to
come to my current account when I retrieve email.

Is there any way to do this or am I out of luck?

Thanks!

Explain what you mean by "alias" and what kind of mail server you're using.
