Many thanks for your help on 27 Sep.

I've extracted the suptools.msi file from the
Windows XP CD and now have the msicu.exe
utility. (Only one U in the filename.) Its
properties say it's version 1.013, created on
21 Jul 2001.

Is this version compatible with Windows XP?

Sorry for my caution, but I've read that older (?)
versions aren't compatible with Windows XP.
You may recall I want to clear out the windows
installer registry settings for MS Office 2K, so
that Office 2K can be re-installed.

The one installed from the XP disk should be msicuu.exe and should be in
Program Files\Support Tools.

I don';t have a msicu one around at all, and must suspect that this came
from a Win2000 or NT disk. The msicuu from the XP CD is OK with XP, but
check in that folder for it
