AIW X600 Pro PCI-E vs AIW X800 XT AGP 8X

I got everything I need to put my AMD64 4000+ system together except for an
appropriate mobo (and vid card?). I need an all-in-wonder video card but not
sure which one. As far as mobos go, I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-K8NS
Ultra-939 (http://tinyurl.com/6ssxy) for an AGP board or the Gigabyte
GA-K8NXP-SLI (http://tinyurl.com/55adu) for the PCI-E board. Now, I
already have the X800 XT AGP card but its un opened and I could still take
it back as its with in the 30 days of purchase. I know PCI-E has 2x the
bandwidth as AGP so my question is would the AIW X800 XT perform better than
the AIW X600 Pro? If not/if so, how much difference would there be
performance-wise? Or should I take the X800 back and wait to see if ATI is
gonna put out an AIW X800 in a PCI-E version? Thanks for any info.

The AIW X800XT will wildly outperform an AIW X600 Pro, but it's got nothing
to do with the AGP vs PCIe bandwidth. Not even the X850XT PE can saturate
the AGP8X bus. Next gen cards will likely require the PCIe bandwidth, but
nothing right now does. The X600 Pro's performance is pretty wretched on
demanding games.....think 20fps or so on Doom3 at 1024x768. It's basically
just a 9600 Pro in PCIe formfactor. A 9800 Pro will walk all over it.

Why? Are you sure you actually need a tuner? Could you get away with
just a video input? Many people seem to be dissatiified with the
problems they have and the software provided... if you really want a
tuner a seperate one might be a better option.

By well over a factor of 2 in games. As can be demonstrated by the
price difference, I suspect.

The X600 is basically a 9600... which is beaten by a 9800, which is
beaten by the X800.

It would be best to get a PCI Express board... but if it means waiting,
it might not be best.
