AIW 9800 pro can't handle UT2004???

Mike

I seem to have a problem with my (about) 6 month old AIW 9800 pro.
Whenever I try to run halo pc, or the demo for UT2004, (or even the
screen saver that came with the card) I get these terrible looking
black or white or sometimes silverish streaks that appear and
dissapear very quickly and randomly about the screen. I didn't have
this problem until I downloaded and installed the demo for Unreal
Tournament 2004. At first it started out as somthing kinda tollerable,
and I only saw 1 streak about every 10 min I played, then it started
to get progressivly worse the more I played, now I see 1 about every
second. The streaks seem to come alot more when I play multiplayer on
Halo or the UT2004 demo online, and very rarley do I see any when I
play Halo single player. I have had this problem for about a week now,
and have put all of the settings as low as they go, played around with
a few things in the Open GL and Direct 3D and still I have not been
able to get rid of those streaks!! I wiped out my old winXP Pro today
and reinstalled it under a brand new raid, (I bought one new raptor,
and the other two are the older ones I kept from when this terrible
problem arose). Reinstalled my videocard first, then very next thing
was halo, ...still have the streaks...Then I decided that maybe if
just updated everything then it would go away. After updating
everything I could, I still have those streaks. So now I'm lost and
whenever my screen saver popps up (ati caves)I have to look at those
annoying streaks. I only get this problem when I do intesive stuff,
(ironicly I have no problems with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3) So that
leads me too believe that maybe when I downloaded UT2004 (cuz thats
when things started to go bad) the AIW couldn't take it and this is
the beginning of my graphics card going bad. Or maybe there is a very
quick fix that someone will be able to tell me!!
P.S.
When I run dxdiag it says that no problems were found, but "AGP
Texture Acceleration: Not Available" <--could that be what's going
wrong, and how do I change it?

My rig:
Pentium 4 HT @3.00
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
1 gig Kingston HyperX
Ati AIW 9800 pro
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
120 Maxtor HDD
2-36.7 WD Raptors in raid 0

2- 512mb Crucial memory sticks

yes, I did install Intel's chipset drivers, and the problem still
persists. Does anyone know, or heard of what kind of problem this is
that I am having? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for
the sugestion, and keep them comming!

This is your problem. Make sure you have your motherboard drivers for the AGP
port correctly installed.

OT... but DUDE... you seriously need to see how well UT2004 looks on a
modern card like a $250 AIW9800 or a $200 9800Pro.

Unless youre waiting on the R420 ;)

For your info, I saw an interview with the guy who developed UT2004 on the
Screensavers a couple of weeks ago and he said that for the mostpart UT2004
is a DirectX 7 game. So it should work well with any video card sold in the
last few years.

UT2004 plays "well" on GF2mx card... With the settings on MAX, the
visual ability of the GF2 doesn't come close to that of a modern DX9
card.

Yes, most games are based on OLD abilities... as MOST computers on the
market are still the basic ON-BOARD Intel '3d' crap. The game has
DX9 features and down.
