AIW 9700 Capture Performance

Hello all,
I am very new to the Video Capture side of computer hardware and have
read a couple of reviews regarding the AIW 9700 Pro capture performance.
I was wondering if all of the *real* users of the world could answer me
this: With an Athlon XP 2600+ processor, 1gb ram, 120gig drive, what
kind of MPEG2 compressed video should I expect from a normal cable
box/dss receiver? Are frames dropped? Is the 5.1 sound recorded, any
picture degredation?

Also, I have a Mitsubishi HDTV that can do the standard High Def modes.
Can I use the AIW 9700 Pro component adapter to push a 1080i signal to
my TV?

it should have no problems with Mpeg 2 DVD High, however 5.1 is not an
option . Just stereo.
I think it is capable od 1080i, but not 100% as i do not have a n HDTV at
the moment.
Do not expect tru DVD quality though as you ar eonly dealing with an
analogue input source (TV).
Bt in my experience on my 32" Panasonic Tau, it is good enough for me to use
my computer as a digital VCR.
