AIW 9600 Guide Plus+/Scheduler problem

B

Bob Arnold

I've spent considerable time in the past three weeks installing and
re-installing software to get my new AIW 9600 128MB card functioning
properly.

I think I have a combination of software modules that work and I have
only one more annoying problem to solve. I'm hoping someone in the
group has the information or experience to assist in a fix.

ATI Scheduler seems to reject scheduling to record a Guide Plus+
program listing if the listing has been abbreviated and contains a
period.

Program listings that are not abbreviated and do not contain a period
work perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there a fix or
workaround? Can I somehow edit out the periods in the Guide Plus+
listings or dbase?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

ATI has an article about this problem in their "knowlegebase". ATI says
they are working on a resolution to this problem. They suggest going back
to MMC 9.06 as a temporary workaround.

Costly, isn't it? I hate it, the arcane language on ATI's
website, the sometimes-working-most-times-not software, and of
course the price. Not only for the hardware, but my time
especially. I can get what I want from the Realtek Winfast
TV cards. They aren't as fancy, but they aren't as bloated
either. AND they work! At way less than half the price of ATI's
crappola.

What I just don't get is WHY DO WE HAVE TO SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS?
Why are we just unpaid beta testers. Hell, we even pay them to
beta test! There is something absurdly outrageous about that.

My ATI scheduler usually throws an error and shuts down. When it
does work, it will record, but no sound. NO SOUND NO MATTER WHAT
I DO! It should work, why doesn't it?

work perfectly.

Gee, maybe you are onto something, lol.

It seems everyone's issues are different to me. Same OS-es, diff
hardware, what does that tell you? I know, its the hardware
vendors fault! lol.

You might be happy with Media Portal
http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net/
But if you ever expect ATI to get it right, well, my sympathies
are with you. ATI has got my last dime.
