AIW 8500DV capture driver & sync problems

I recently installed the AIW 8500DV card. When running the PC Check under
the ATI Multimedia Center Configuration menu it says that "WDM devices are
not listed in registry). When clicking the help "?" it says to "Get the
capture drivers and the recommended ATI display driver from the ATI website"
I have installed version 7.6 which came with it, but which driver version do
I need to get from the website to correct my problem.

Capturing seems to work (only tried TV so far), but when playing back there
is a synchronization problem with the video and audio.
Can anyone help with these issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It would help if we knew the sytem spec and OS.

This card has problems with directX9, it messes up the TV. Theres a patch
from Microsoft to fix it but it didn't work for me.

This should say "This card has problem with Direct X 9 if the sound card is
SBLive!"

You need to install more than the MMC and display drivers, as you've found
out you need the capture drivers also.

If you download the latest 3.10 catalyst drivers from ATi, it'll install the
capture and display drivers at the same time.

Temporarily, if you need the DirectX fix from Microsoft, or the Ati
Multimedia Library fix, I'll put them here for a week or so:

If you want to uninstall all ATi software from your system, and start clean,
or you have the disabled Direct3D problem and need to uninstall Smart-GART,
then go here: http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html

Hope this helps out!

Twinkletoes,
Thanks. I had already downloaded Catalyst 2.1 display driver (6.13.10.6094)
and WDM capture driver (6.13.10.6125) from ATI and installed them. Seems to
have helped my problem ... but only time will tell.
On the other hand, I wonder if current Catalyst 3.1 display driver
(6.14.10.6404) the WDM capture driver (6.14.10.6227) will bring any
additional benefits since the card is not new anymore (but I got it for a
great price). Do you have the newer ones installed and are they working
fine on your system?
I just don't want to keep playing the "Continuous Update the Driver" game
that these companies have us doing all so often. Thanks again.

John,
Sorry that I forgot to give my specs. I'm new to the newsgroup and video
capturing.
I am running Win XP Pro with a P4 2 GHz chip on a Gigabyte P4 Titan
motherboard.
I am currently running 256 MB RAM (DDR PC2100) and on-board sound.
Will I run into problems doing video & TV capturing or should I increase my
RAM.
Also, what sound cards do you all recommend (stereo and/or 5.1 surround)?
Thanks in advance.

Well, when you bought an ATi card, you opted into the continuous update the
driver game itself!
