My system: W98SE, 1Ghz P-3, 512Ram, 256Mb L2, 2 Large HDDs, AIW (Rage) 128
32mb, DVD+/-RW 4x, ASUS CUSL-2 mobo (ATA 100/133).

From what I have read, with care this system can successfully capture, edit
video input and burn dvd-r's.

My two main concerns:

1. The usability of the Rage card for this purpose
2. Can this card use MMC 7.7?

I plan to transfer 47 minute long TV shows to DVD.

I know that it is not an optimum arrangement. Thanks, Larry

Can the card use 7.7? Yes, it can. Works OK, though on my system it
frequently needs me to drop right back to 7.2 and upgrade in steps for 7.7
to 'take' on the system.

Can you capture TV shows to DVD? Yes, but your system won't find it easy -
it'll be a touch too slow. Depends a lot on the format you choose for
capture. You can go for AVI, but the file sizes will be huge. You can
capture in MPEG, but editing is harder and you'll be very dependent on the
choice of CODECS. Or you can use ATI's own vcr format, and lose some
quality.
