Im sure you did mike.. im just teasing the Mvps because
they keep saying things are working.. however its a jungle out there...
I wanted also to point out the detail of the flash installation from live
messenger. Its good to warn people not to install flash that way. Im not
sure if MS has fixed it.. perhaps
it would be a good idea to somehow tell the messenger team
to redirect to the adobe flash page instead...

Thanks for the heads-up :-)

I didn't have any major issues, even with the betas and RC's.. and the only
software I lost of any merit was Nero 6..

Nero Express 6 (OEM) is a major loss, as it forces one to use the
built-in Vista optical disk support, which in my experience is one of
the buggiest and least functional parts of Vista.

New drives are still shipping with dead-in-Vista Nero Express 6
I have UAC turned off because it annoys me,
Push...

One laugh I did get recently was with Adobe 8 reader.. the installation file
has to be in the root directory and UAC must be enabled.. lol.. too funny..
exit Adobe Reader, and hello Foxit..

Pop. No problems installing Acrobat 8 Reader here, as it's one of the
new UAC-aware installers that actually works properly, as far as that
goes. It's broken for you, because you disabled UAC.

Expect more of the same in future, as vendors become Vista-aware.

Interesting, I have a third experience. When I tried to install Reader from
my desktop (of which it unpacks), it would fail and tell me it didn't have
access to "whatever file". I had to turn UAC off, install then turn UAC
back on.

Dear Jim:

A simple search for "Flash Player" produced 46 threads in the last three
months on this topic. Many of them with elaborate details on how to overcome
the problem. And, yes, many of them answered by MVPs.

Alex Feinmans ISO Recorder 3 does a great job in ISO images, and I have been
playing with free Nero alternatives a little, but have yet to come up with
anything conclusive..

The Nero situation with new drives is NOT good, as I would have gladly
bought another DVD drive to get version 7, but it has to be the right
version 7 and that will not happen for a while..

Adobe Reader 8 didn't install because UAC was off.. found that out very
quickly.. Adobe 8 is a 20mb installation file.. Foxit is 1.68mb and it does
the same job.. as long as I can read pdf's, I don't care what works..

Vista aware is ok, but for Adobe Reader 8, the bell tolled.. :)

Elborate answers from a MVP? That's a oxymoron. They're known cut and
past jockies. Remember their agenda isn't really to help, they are
trying to earn browny points to keep their MVP status, which oh my
gosh, is worth a few bucks to them for marketing their services.

Sorry, truth hurts sometimes.

Elborate answers from a MVP?

Yup. I seldom write "short" posts, and I don't cut-n-paste.
They're known cut and past jockies.

If you want to help 200 ppl with the same problem, then cut-n-paste
will do that more effectively than writing to as many as you have time
for, which will be about 20.

My own approach was to set up a web site so I could URL to debulk the
replies I'd write to each poster.

Whatever. Speaking of "truth", "Adam", which human is hiding behind
this speudonym today?
