agent.exe attack

Agent.exe keeps coming up and tryng to install adobe acrobat. When it
does agent.exe is active in my task manager. I tried to stop agent.exe
in task manager but it reloads.

Adaware promised to rid me off it. I paid them but it didn't work. I'm
running XP professional.

It all depends on where Agent.exe is located, and what it is... There are a
number of legit programs that use a filename identical to this...

Avira Internet Security Suite
Forte Agent Newsreader
Cyberlink Power VCR II
Corel WordPerfect Office X3
Acronis Agent

What you most likely have is, 'InstallShield Update Service Agent' by
Macrovision Corporation. Found in 'C:\Program Files\Common
Files\InstallShield\Update Service'. Most likely your copy of Adobe Acrobat
is using the program to check the web for updates. About the only thing you
could do to alleviate this is to disable update checking in Acrobat, then
you won't have this problem anymore.

If your version of Agent.exe is found in the above directory, and that
really is the one that is running under Taskmanager, you CAN NOT get rid of
it, it is a legit and needed file. Turn off auto-update in Acrobat...

I watched agent.exe use more CPU space the set up program loaded. The
installation program didn't run unless agent.exe was running. I
removed the windows installer and it made things worse. Nothing was
being installed but agent.exe kept trying which was worse then when
the normal install program was running. I paid for a version ad ware
which said it would stop agent.exe and it didn't seem to work. I went
to the Norton site for professional help and they said I needed an
installer so I could chat with them so I downloaded and installed
windows installed. After that Adobe started to be installed again. I
restated windows and just after it booted another program WinDvd
started to be installed. I went into task manager and removed it and
agent.exe and lo and behold the problem stopped. Agent.exe is not
loading and nothing is being installed.
