Hi, I am using XP sercice pack 2. Java 2 runtime environment is installed
as
well. However, I got the error message when visit a web site:
JVM version not supported. To use this service, you must enable Sun Java
Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.4.2_03 (Apple JVM 1.4.2_05 for Safari) or
a
later version.

How to setup my machine to solve the problem?

Thanks!

If a web site is demanding that specific version of the JRE, it can
only be because the owner of the site wants to exploit the security
vulnerabilities in JRE 1.4.x. I'd recommend that you stay away from
that site.

Its extremely confusing when you start a new thread on a subject that was
still being responded to
Have you, as previously suggested, uninstalled Sun Java then reinstalled
from Sun site?
Did you then check, via Sun site, that the installation was that successful.
If all above are true and you are able to access other java enabled sites
then you need to contact the Gov dept as to why its not working.
If the dept than states that you need an earlier version of Sun Java then it
is because there is a problem with the Gov.dept site and its
coding/implimentation of java
